Sarah Fordyce, M.A. Ed.

Board Member, Secretary

Sarah’s service as a Board Secretary of Mending Hearts is just one example of a lifelong commitment to volunteer service to young children and their mothers in her community.  As a student she committed to serving children by volunteering in the nursery at her church and later co-teaching Sunday school. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in elementary education with a focus on intercultural studies.  As part of completing a master’s degree in education she completed a volunteer internship in a low-income school.

Shortly after this, Sarah started her family and continued her commitment to volunteer service, which has including assisting the director of Hope’s Closet to provide maternity clothing for low-income mothers, as a kindergarten classroom parent for both of her children, and as a Cubmaster and Scouts BSA Troop fundraising chair to name a few.  As the Board Secretary at Mending Hearts, Sarah continues to demonstrate her life’s commitment to volunteer work specific to child development and maternal support through volunteering her time to complete office manager duties at Mending Hearts. In her free time, she enjoys watercolor painting, learning new crafting skills, and walks with friends.

DC Hamilton, JD, LMFT

Executive Director

DC Hamilton is our Executive Director with more than 20 years of experience providing mental healthcare to children with severely emotional disturbance and disruptive behaviors. Our director is also a clinical art therapist, a certified PCIT International therapist, and is one of the first therapists in the country to be certified by UC Davis Children’s Hospital as a therapist and trainer of PC-CARE, the newest version of PCIT.

As a licensed attorney with a law degree focused in human and children's rights, DC also brings to Mending Hearts experience as a healthcare attorney and as an advocate in child welfare policy at the federal and international level.

On a more personal note, our director has parented a child with significant behavioral challenges. Having sought out parenting guidance personally when still a young therapist, our director has come to personally know the struggles that parents face raising strong willed children and the power of the PCIT principles to transform families.

DC has gathered the gems from a diverse education and life of experiences at home and abroad and has brought them back to our community to co-create with the Board of Directors, Mending Hearts Family Counseling Center, where “Our Passion is Supporting Parents!”
